Abstract

Research is a key element in all higher educational institutions. Teacher educators today are considered to be important assets of the society as they shape and nurture prospective teachers who later become contributory members of the society and therefore the role of teacher educators are very pivotal. As teachers, they are expected to involve in various research activities. The conduct of research enables them to venture into the world of academia that offers them with varied skills and also broadens their outlook into practicing various pedagogical forms which helps to better disseminate. Therefore, the present study is an attempt to assess the level of attitude of teacher educators towards research. For the investigation, a descriptive survey approach was employed. A total of 60 sample consisting of teacher educators were selected from the 8 B.Ed colleges of Nagaland using random sampling technique. The study found that most of the teacher educators’ attitude towards research fall under the unfavorable category with 36.7%, study also found contrast results in the attitude of teacher educators towards research with respect to gender, educational qualification and teaching experience.
